KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has finalised three candidates for the posts of Provincial President and General Secretary for the Party in Central Punjab, South Punjab and Balochistan, General Secretary Sindh and Divisional President and General Secretary for Karachi.
Announcement in this regard was made at a Press Conference held at Sindh Secretariat and attended by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Political Secretary to the Chairman PPP Jameel Soomro and Advisor to Chief Minister for Information Maula Bux Chandio today.
It may be recalled that the provincial bodies of the PPP were dissolved by the Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Provincial Coordination Committees were formed to seek opinions from grass-root level workers at district levels in all the four provinces. After holding general workers meetings and consultations, the Coordination Committees submitted their recommendations to the PPP Chairman last month.
Three Party candidates finalised for each posts are: President Central Punjab – Raja Pervez Ashraf, Qamaruz Zaman Kaira and Rana Farooq Saeed Khan. General Secretary Punjab – Nadeem Afzal Chan, Asif Khan and Hassan Murtaza. President South Punjab – Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood, Toochi Khan and Mureed Hussain Qureshi. President Balochistan – Bismillah Khan Kakar, Sardar Fateh Mohammad Mohammad Hasni and Ali Madad Jattak. General Secretary Balochistan – Sarbuland Khan, Senator Saifullah Magsi and Saadullah Shah. General Secretary Sindh – Rashid Rabbani, Waqar Mehdi and Saeed Ghani.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and others said that chairman will now consult the members of Central Executive Committee and other top leadership before announcing the final candidates for the above organizations. To a question about Dr Asim, Chief Minister said he has met Dr Asim to congratulate him on his bail, adding that his health was deteriorating, and saying that Dr Asim is in fact a prisoner of the federal government. This is our first success and more successeses are on the way for PPP.
Speaking on the occasion, Jameel Soomro said that PPP Chairman plans to bring into field a fresh and vibrant team to take along the people to the destiny of a strong democracy and a peaceful and prosperous country. He said that four demands made by Bilawal last month must be accepted to pull out the country from political instability and chaos. The chairman’s four-point demands include the reconstitution of a Parliamentary Committee on National Security, the passing of the PPP Panama Bill in Parliament, the implementation of the resolution regarding CPEC passed by APC under President Asif Ali Zardari and the appointment of the foreign minister.
